Junior Tag Rugby a success - The Daily Mirror (Colombo, Sri Lanka)

Colombo, Nov. 13 -- The inaugural Junior Tag Rugby for under10, 10-a -side held at the Royal Sports Complex on November 9 was a great success.

The tournament was organized by the Western Province Rugby Football Union under the leadership of N.J. Mudannayaka (Coordinator WPEFU).

Over 180 participants from 14 leading schools participated in this event which was witnessed by many parents of the participants enjoyed the skills of the juveniles. The Royal team A, B and C was coached by Summa Navaratnam (Rugby Legend of late 60's). Summa also conducted a Rugby Academy for Royal Juniors a year ago which was a great success.

Certificatates for all participating teams were awarded by Summa Navaratnam (Rugby Legend), Fazal Mohamed (Rugby Development Chairman SLRFU) and Shamrath Fernando (Secretary WPRFU).

Winners

'A' Group: Royal 'A' Beat Lalith Athulatmudali College 'B' and Moratuwa MMV.

'B' Group: S. de S Jayasinghe College and Lanka Sabha Vidyalaya were joint champs.

'C' Group: Royal 'B' beat Hindu College and Roman Catholic MV

'D'Group: Dudley Senanayaka College beat Royal 'C', Lalith Athulathmudali College and Roman Catholic MV.
